The Legend of Damascus Steel
Damascus steel originated in the Middle East around 300 BC. The original technique involved forging wootz steel imported from India and Sri Lanka.
Modern Damascus
Today's Damascus steel knives are made by layering different types of steel and forge-welding them together. The billet is then folded multiple times, creating the characteristic wavy pattern.

Caring for Damascus
Damascus knives require proper care. Hand wash only, dry immediately, and apply a thin coat of food-grade mineral oil periodically. Never put Damascus steel in the dishwasher!
